Job Description
We’re looking for a User Experience Designer to work closely with a multidisciplinary design, engineering, product, and marketing team to drive progress, uphold standards, and create and advocate for exceptional customer experiences. We’re looking for an individual with a background in web & mobile design who wants to build on that experience and who will thrive with the freedom to try out and explore new ideas.
You will both manage and execute typical design documents such as site maps, user flows, wireframes, and visual designs, while taking a hands-on approach to implementation and collaboration with software development. You will also seek user and business validation for your proposed solutions and be receptive to input and pivots, as you develop new experiences. This position is full-time working out of our Columbia, MD office.

Responsibilities:
• The User Experience designer will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to create compelling, intuitive, and innovative user-centered experiences for our clients.
• You will take ownership of product user experience, creating user flows and wireframes, designing mockups, and prototyping experiences. You will be working with the product and engineering team who will be providing additional input into the screens.
• You will take part in client interviews during which you will seek input from the client concerning user experience concepts, and clarify experiential requirements.
• You will deliver creative digital concepts, information architecture and prototypes for digital projects. (inc. Internal presentations, Userflows, Journey Maps, Sitemaps, Wireframes, Pattern Libraries, etc.).
• Passionately advocate end user-centered usability views and work cross-functionally with the Product and Customer Success teams, and customers in effectively solving problems for our customers.
• Conduct user experience research, identify and sketch out key scenarios.
• Understand and contribute to use cases and user stories for various workflows.
• Lead regular design reviews, and conduct usability tests.
• Communicate design intent to internal and external teams. Clearly represent the design work and advocate for users’ needs.
Candidate Profile:
• 2-4 years of UX web and mobile design experience producing engaging, usable, and effective design solutions using user-centric principles
• Experience designing responsive web and/or mobile apps
• Strong design background with an obsessive eye for interaction and visual details
• Ability to think at a high level about product strategy and vision
• Strong sense of ownership and accountability toward the products you create
• Strong start-up or small company background
• Proficiency with wireframe and visual design tools (e.g. Sketch, Photoshop, Illustrator)
• Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate your design decisions
• Proven experience in planning and conducting user research activities
• Research methodologies for both qualitative and quantitative including interviews, focus groups, heuristics, contextual enquiries etc.
• Draw insights and provide recommendations based on research
• Functional analysis skills. You should be able to break down complex workflows that include multiple layers of dependencies and reframe them into elegant, simpler workflows.
• Ability to think at a high level about product strategy and vision
• A portfolio demonstrating a grounded background in design
• Rich understanding of user experience, user research, interaction design, and design principles
• Solid understanding of common software project management and development practices
